As you may
be aware, the condition of the waterways on Cape Cod has degraded considerably
over the past 20 or so years. The
population has exploded and the septic systems we all use to treat our
wastewater have been woefully inadequate to handle all of the nitrogen and
nutrients that have impacted our environment.
We, at Three Bays Preservation, together with Stand Up and Paddle Cape
Cod, sought to find a way to bring this situation to the forefront and allow
the public to see firsthand how bad the situation has become. Two years ago we started our campaign “One
way or another, we will get you to the water”.
We strongly feel that if enough people actually get out onto the water
and experience it on their own terms; they will understand what we are trying
to say. Our mission has always been,
since 1996, to “preserve, maintain, protect and enhance the aquatic environment
and related eco-systems of the Three Bay estuary of West
Bay , Cotuit
Bay , North Bay
and environs in Barnstable County , Cape
Cod , MA
This sponsorship package contains
two opportunities for you to become part of the solution. By raising public awareness, solutions can
ensue:
- On Thursday, July 18, 2013 in the evening, we will be holding a fun-filled family event at Dowses Beach in Osterville. This is an opportunity for the entire family to get out onto the water and learn the fun sport of Stand-Up Paddleboarding or kayaking.
- And
on Saturday, September 21, 2013, we are sponsoring the third annual RACE
Cape Cod from Ropes Beach in Cotuit.
This race is for anyone who wants to race around the island to
support Three Bays Preservation and the work we do. There are various classes and age
levels. In the past two years of
racing, we have had participants attend from all over New England
