Produced by Three Bays Preservation, Inc., together with the firm of Stand Up & Paddle Cape Cod of Osterville, the 2013 "Paddle Day" events will offer all participants - individuals, couples and families - opportunities to learn about and enjoy kayaking and paddle-boarding while exploring the waters of East Bay, Centerville River and beyond.

"Where's YOUR Paddle?" is a call to grab a paddle for fun and pleasure and to get closer to Barnstable's waters.  Three Bays Preservation, Inc. is hosting this summer event in order to expand awareness of its mission to "preserve, maintain, protect and enhance" the estuary known as the Three Bays Estuary of Barnstable and to engage the community in its roster of projects and programs to protect them.

Lindsey Counsell, Executive Director of Three Bays Preservation, Inc. explained the "Family Paddle Day" event as "a program to get residents and summer visitors more engaged with the local waters and issues that threaten their condition."  In 2013, Three Bays Preservation, Inc. offers another summer full of many programs to attract visitors to the bays: a weekly Bayside Explorers outing, two weekends of eco-adventure cruises and managed public access all summer to both Dead Neck and Sampson's Islands.  The July 18th "Family Paddle Day" event will offer more people more ways to test the waters on Cape Cod and experience the possibilities for their enjoyment and preservation.

Amy Hotchkiss, proprietor of Stand Up & Paddle Cape Cod, and one of the event's sponsors and organizers, is very familiar with the waters of Cape Cod and especially the sport of paddle-boarding that her company serves. "Offering the public increased opportunities to learn and enjoy the aquatic sports of paddle-boarding and kayaking in a spirited way is the objective of this summer awareness and an appreciation for all of us to take part in preserving these aquatic resources we love to enjoy.  All proceeds will benefit Three Bays Preservation's programs of maintenance and protection of the bays within the estuary."

Both Counsell and Hotchkiss paid tribute to some of the event's local corporate sponsors who have contributed to underwriting the production of "Family Paddle Day".  Among them are:

Eastern Mountain Sports
Sea Sports - Cape Cod
Naukabout Beer Company
Vermont Pure Natural Spring Water

"Where's YOUR Paddle?" is the call for all to join in the "Family Paddle Day" on the evening of July 18th!
